ABOUT US
Our mission is to glorify God by knowing, obeying and proclaiming God's Word; loving others; and making disciples of Jesus Christ.
Bloomingdale Christian Church is a Bible-believing rural church that is God-centered and strives to honor Jesus Christ. Located in the small town of Bloomingdale, the church began in 1858 with 25 people desiring to obey God and worship Him together as a local body of believers. In 1968, we separated from the Disciples of Christ and became a non-denominational church.
STATEMENT OF FAITH
We believe and teach the following doctrine:
-
A personal relationship to Jesus Christ alone makes an individual a part of God's family (John 1:12)
-
The existence of an eternal God in three persons: The Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit (II Cortinthians 13:14; Deuteronomy 6:4)
-
The Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspiried Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life (II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21)
-
The creation of man by the direct act of God (Genesis 1:26-27)
-
The total depravity and lost condition of all men by nature (Romans 3:22-23; Romans 5:12)
-
The incarnation and virgin birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ (John 1:1-2, John 1:14).
-
The vicarious atonement of Jesus Christ for the sins of mankind by the shedding of His blood on the cross (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 1:7; I Peter 2:24)
-
His bodily resurrection from the tomb and his bodily ascension (Romans 8:34; Acts 1:9; Hebrews 7:25)
-
The personal, pre-millennial and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and that this "blessed hope" has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer (I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 3:10)
-
That men are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9; John 1:12)
-
Two resurrections, of the (a) just and (b) unjust, and the everlasting blessedness of the just and the eternal punishment of the unjust (John 5:28-29)
-
That the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and during this age to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living and service (John 16:8, 13-16; John 14:26)
-
That we as God's children, those who have received Jesus Christ, should live in such a manner as not to bring reproach upon their Savior and Lord, and that we should be separate from all religious apostasy, all worldly and sinful pleasures, practices, and associations as commanded by God (II Timothy 3:1-5; Romans 12:1-2; I John 2:15-17; II John 9-11; II Corinthians 6:14-7:1).
